For those unfamiliar with BMX, could you explain what BMX racing is?
"BMX is broadly divided into freestyle and racing. Most people think of BMX as trick cycling, but within BMX, there are two disciplines: freestyle tricks and speed racing. I compete in racing as my main event."
What inspired you to become a BMX athlete?
"I originally rode MTB (mountain biking). Then in 5th grade, a BMX team coach scouted me. That was my first introduction to the sport. At first, I did both disciplines simultaneously. But as my dream of competing in the Olympics grew, I fully committed to BMX racing since it's an official Olympic event."
BMX seems more challenging and risky than regular cycling. What makes it so appealing?
"It is an injury-prone sport. However, because of the risks, protective gear and safety training are extremely thorough. Of course, injuries can still happen, but with proper awareness of the dangers, major accidents can be prevented. I've experienced many types of cycling—mountain biking, road cycling, track cycling—and while each has its own charm, none provide quite the same thrill as BMX racing."
What's your honest review after wearing WaveWear?
"I mainly wore WaveWear during weight training. The
Compression T-Shirt T20 was incredibly helpful during heavy lifts like squats and deadlifts. The back taping support was something I was really satisfied with. You might not notice it after just a day or two, but as training fatigue accumulates, the difference becomes clear. Since using it, my back fatigue has noticeably decreased. I don't usually praise products this much, but I genuinely felt the difference. That's why the
T20 stands out in my memory, and I want to keep using it."
Which WaveWear products would you recommend most?
"The
Compression T-Shirt T20 is definitely helpful. I also wear calf sleeves during competitions. When I first tried the
WaveWear Calf Sleeves C2, I wondered if the fit was too loose. But as I wore them, I realized the taping provides excellent grip. That's when I understood—these sleeves support through taping rather than just compression."
Wavewear wholeheartedly cheers for Joon-soo Yoon’s inspiring journey.
