How did you first get started in soccer?
"Until then, I was just a kid who loved sports, but the 2002 World Cup was the turning point where I felt certain that I wanted to become a soccer player. However, my school didn't have a soccer team. Not wanting to transfer schools at such a young age, I started playing a bit later than others once I entered middle school, and it was a very lonely battle. Becoming a professional soccer player requires not just sincere passion and effort, but also a degree of luck. That’s why whenever I see young players, I really want to cheer them on."
What is Suwon FC's unique playing style?
"Our team has a strong tendency to play aggressively from defense to attack, which fans find very exciting. There have been many impressive matches this year as well. Although it's unfortunate that we didn't make it to Final A, I want to secure 3 points in this upcoming home game for the fans and end the season on a high note."
Your jersey numbers always seem to include the number 3. Is there a specific reason for your attachment to this number?
"Yes. From my time at Suwon Samsung to the current Suwon FC, the number 3 has always been part of my jersey number. Personally, I just like the number 3. When I first joined Suwon Samsung, the number I received was 30, so when I returned to Suwon FC, I wanted to wear 30 again. It's a number that holds a lot of meaning for me in many ways."
What is the most memorable episode from your 10-year career?
"The support and cheers of the fans remain the most memorable. It gives me great strength as a player. The warm words fans send me at the stadium and through social media make me run even harder. The reason I go toward the stands and give a 90-degree bow after a match is because I want to express my gratitude to the fans."
How do you prepare for or prevent injuries during a match?
"Since my height is on the shorter side for a center-back in a back four, I intentionally engage in more aggressive physical battles during aerial duels to prevent opposing forwards from getting a clean header. Despite that, I'm thankful that I haven't had too many injuries. So I don't have a specific preparation routine, but I try to study injury-prone areas diligently to prevent future injuries."
How did you discover WaveWear? Please give us an honest review of the products.
"Having played for a long time and getting older, I started to feel that my knees were a bit unstable. I used to use athletic tape during matches, but the tape would often peel off due to sweat, and applying and removing it every time was quite a hassle. So, I looked into products on my own and discovered WaveWear through social media.
Actually, I wear them every day when I exercise. Other knee guards tend to slide down even during warm-ups, so I ended up not using them. But WaveWear is satisfying. The tension is great, and the way it firmly supports the knee without being intrusive feels completely different. Personally, I am so satisfied with the product that I want to wear it during actual matches."
WaveWear sincerely cheers for Shin Se-Gae's passionate performance and a successful conclusion to his season.
