Frequently asked questions
About the K2 Knee Sleeve
What is the WaveWear K2 knee sleeve? Who is it for?
The WaveWear K2 is a single knee compression sleeve with built-in AlignX™ kinesiology silicone designed to support the kneecap and surrounding muscles during movement.
It is ideal for runners, lifters, hikers, field and court athletes, and anyone who wants extra stability or relief from knee discomfort in daily activities.
How does it help improve stability?
The K2 combines graduated compression with targeted AlignX™ silicone around the patella to reduce vibration and keep the knee tracking more smoothly. This helps absorb impact, reduce fatigue, and give a more locked-in feeling during squats, lunges, jumps, sprints, and long runs.
It provides light to moderate support. It is not a substitute for a rigid or hinged medical brace used after serious injuries or surgery; people with significant instability or strong pain should consult a healthcare professional.
Can I wear it on both knees?
Yes. The K2 sleeve is not left- or right-specific, so it can be worn on either knee. Many users choose a pair if both sides need support.
For sizing, measure the thigh circumference 15cm above the middle of your knee and refer to the on-page size chart to match your measurement for a snug but comfortable fit.
Can this replace a knee brace?
This knee sleeve offers lightweight compression and support that can help with mild knee pain, fatigue, and general stability in daily life and sports.
It does not replace a rigid or hinged knee brace used after serious injuries or surgery; if you have significant instability or strong pain, consult a medical professional about a proper brace.
You can, however, wear the K2 knee sleeve underneath a stronger compression sleeve or brace.
I had ACL surgery — can I use this for recovery?
The K2 offers lightweight compression and support for mild knee pain, fatigue, and general stability. It does not replace a rigid or hinged brace used after surgery — consult a medical professional first.
Below is a review from a customer who used the K2 after ACL surgery.

Do knee sleeves help with squats?
Yes — knee sleeves can provide compression, warmth, and flexible support around the knee during squats.
Knee support: A close-fitting sleeve wraps the knee as it bends and extends during back squats, front squats, goblet squats, and similar lower-body exercises.
Warmth and comfort: Wearing the sleeve from warm-up sets through working sets can help keep the knee area warm without the bulk of a rigid brace.
Built-in taping: The WaveWear K2 Knee Sleeve combines compression with AlignX™ adhesive silicone taping technology, providing a reusable taping-like pull around the knee without applying separate kinesiology tape.
What is the difference between compression knee sleeves and powerlifting knee sleeves?
Compression knee sleeves are generally thinner and more flexible, while thick powerlifting sleeves are designed to provide a firmer, more rigid fit during heavy squats.
Flexibility: A lightweight compression sleeve can move with the knee through squats, lunges, accessory work, conditioning, and cooldowns.
Level of rigidity: Thick powerlifting sleeves are commonly used when a lifter wants greater containment during heavy squat attempts. They may feel less comfortable during a varied workout.
Training purpose: Flexible sleeves are better suited to lifters who want one sleeve for an entire weight-training session rather than equipment used only for maximal lifts. The WaveWear K2 Knee Sleeve is designed as flexible kinesiology compression support, not as a rigid competition-style powerlifting sleeve.
Can I wear WaveWear for Olympic lifts such as cleans, snatches, and jerks?
Yes — WaveWear’s flexible knee sleeves, wrist wraps, and compression tops can be worn during cleans, snatches, and jerks.
Knee support: The K2 Knee Sleeve bends with the knee through the pull, catch, and standing phases of Olympic lifts.
Wrist support: The H1 Wrist Wrap provides adjustable support for front-rack and overhead bar positions.
Upper-body coverage: The T20 Back and Shoulder Compression Top provides flexible compression across the shoulders and back without the structure of a rigid brace. Test new support gear with an empty bar and lighter sets first to make sure the fit remains comfortable through the complete lifting range.
Good to Know
What is kinesiology compression wear, and how does WaveWear work?
Kinesiology compression wear combines compression fabric with targeted taping support in one reusable garment.
The compression gives a secure, supportive fit and helps limit excessive muscle movement during activity.
The taping comes from AlignX™ — silicone taping lines built into the inside of the garment, placed along the same muscle pathways a physiotherapist would tape by hand. They make gentle contact with your skin around specific muscles and joints.
Unlike traditional kinesiology tape, there is nothing to measure, cut or apply. The support is already in the right place every time you put it on, and it goes back on tomorrow after a wash.

How is WaveWear different from kinesiology tape?
Traditional kinesiology tape has to be measured, cut and applied by hand before every session — and it peels off in the shower.
WaveWear builds AlignX™ silicone taping directly into the garment, so the pattern is already applied, already at the right tension, and reaches places you cannot easily tape yourself.
Reusable, not disposable. There is no adhesive to replace. Washing restores the silicone's grip, and the limit is the life of the garment rather than a roll count.
Compression as well as taping. Regular compression applies even pressure across a whole area. WaveWear adds directional taping lines that follow specific muscle groups, so support is targeted where your body needs it.

How do I wear WaveWear for the first time?
Start light — just 1 hour for your first wear. AlignX™ silicone is engineered to grip your skin securely. Like a new pair of shoes, it may feel firm at first, then settle into a fit that is comfortable for you.
Wear time guide. First, apply Warm-Up Sports Cream or petroleum jelly (such as Vaseline®) to your skin — everywhere the silicone touches. Moisturising reduces friction and helps prevent chafing. For your first wear, we recommend 1 hour or less. From there, gradually extend your wear time as your skin adjusts. We recommend a maximum of 5 hours, though some wear it comfortably for longer.
Outdoor and extended wear. During activities where removing the product mid-session is not practical — running, hiking, training — reapply cream or petroleum jelly over the silicone areas to stay chafe-free. If you get a short break, shifting the silicone slightly or peeling back the taping and re-applying it makes a noticeable difference.
Cautions. Stop using it immediately if itching, stinging or similar discomfort persists. Do not apply to broken or inflamed skin. Remove WaveWear before sleeping. If you have a condition affecting blood circulation, consult a doctor before use.
AlignX™ silicone is tested for skin-contact safety and made with skin-safe, non-toxic materials.
Can I wear WaveWear with another sleeve, brace or supporter?
Yes. If you want more compression, you can layer another sleeve or supporter over your WaveWear.
Order matters. Wear WaveWear directly against the skin so the AlignX™ silicone stays in contact with your body, and put the other sleeve or brace on top. The taping only works where it touches skin.
Watch for chafing. Layering increases pressure and friction, so keep the first few sessions short and moisturise the skin under the silicone.
This is also the answer for anyone using a rigid or hinged medical brace: WaveWear is flexible sportswear and does not replace that brace, but it can be worn underneath it.
Size guide
Measure the thigh circumference 15cm above the middle of the knee.

If you are in between sizes: choose the smaller size for tighter compression, the larger size for a lighter feel.
